ATF for the carbon lock

ok my brother that has been working on rotary engines for a long time told me why i'm probably getting bad compression is that my engine is carbon locked and he told me to use atf but see I have already looked it up and everything like that so don't worry. Now i did tell him that the atf does destory the oil seals and he said that is probably the only bad part to that.

yes atf is very corrosive and can burn through any soft seals it comes in contact with, like oil and coolant seals

You could use seafoam.

If the engine is carbon locked, it's not going to turn at all. If seals are just stuck in place from carbon, it's going to make poor compression.

ATF doesn't actually dissolve carbon very well. Carb cleaner is much better and can be sprayed into each spark plug hole. Diesel fuel also works in place of ATF.

However if seals are stuck, you often have to disassemble the engine to unstick them. Even if you get the enging running well, all the crud remains in the grooves and causes the seals to re-stick or grind themselves to death. Carbon is VERY hard.

have it drink a can of seafoam at 4500 RPMs. If that dosnt help, it's teardown time.

Don't spray PB Blaster into the engine! It will eat the oil o-rings.

Too Late, Wurkt Grate!

I looked on the label and it said it was fine for removing carbon from apex seals.

Anyhoo, my jspec had no compression (seals were stuck in their grooves). Gave it a little shot in each spark plug hole and it fired right up.

Runs fine. If it ***** up, I'm blaming you for talking ****!
