So at an event yesterday i blew off the capped coolant line that used to go to the heater, needless to say, my car overheated. I capped it off better, andrefilled the radiator, but then i ran into a problem. For some reason the car now will not idle. It just dies. I can hold it at 1.2k with my foot, and it ran well the rest of the day. Any ideas as to what this could be?

The motor is an S4 13bt with minor bolt ons.

 

did the motor pull hard after? you should never ever drive the car after you over heat it you should let it completely cool you could have cooked or cracked a seal which is what it sounds like

 

it sat for over an hour before i started it again. it still pulled hard.

 

if you have checked all you vac lines and i assume u have with the boost gauge then you sound still compression check it. I cracked my one seal on my 86 and then i just thought ahhh it was pulse idling and i though no biggy so i set the idle for 1000rpm and drove it. About a week later i popped the back rotor and on the drive home i popped the front rotor.

 

If its not running strange when it cranks up and it just revs up and stops it could just be something hooked up wrong. The car will start and shut down immediatly if you it knows theres a hose not hooked up or a wire not hooked up. It could be something very simple maybe you just missed something. As long as you stopped before you ran hot for too long.

 

i dont know why i even post here. The line going from my compressor to my wastegate actuator blew off. thats all.


Problem fixed.
