ARRGG WHYY!!? Dadgum replacing OMP 2 times and it still leaks!

So, I've come to the conclusion that my OMP days are limited. I've replaced all the seals in the new one...swapped it in, still leaking. So my next guess is either the seals didn't work or the screws are stripped out and leaking from there...I'm essentially done guessing. I really want to get the block off plates all set.

I guess this is just a venting story. I've gone completely nuts over this. Maybe I'll put some thread sealer on all the bolts *Should I do the ones that go into the OMP for the lines?* and hope for the best.

Just block it off and use the o ring and silicone gasket.

My 2 cents.

Where is it leaking from ? How do you know it is leaking ? If it is leaking from the omp, just some small beads of rtv around it .

It's common for used metering oil pumps to leak around the shaft. If that's where the leak is happening, you can rebuild it.

I have rebuilt it when brand new seals. That, sadly, didn't work....

I know it's leakng from the OMP, because when I drive, I put my hand under it, and I feel fresh oil. You can look on the engine right behind it, and you can see where the oil was just "cleaning" the engine. It was bad. Every time I put a new pump on, though, it slows the leak more and more. I'm just wondering if it's the screws....I just don't now.

I've been thinking of doing the block off plate ALOT...but that's alot of work I'd rather not have to do when I fill up at the pump. If I CAN get this fixed, I'll be happy. I'm just getting frustrated with it.

I'd try putting some sealant (right stuff?) on the upper threads of the bolts, maybe around the o-ring, etc.... Make sure the area is well-prepped and clean before you put everything back as well. Take your time. A clean engine is a happy engine.

Before we got the car, the OMP leaking caused one engine to blow due to lack of oil when it all came out under race conditions. Shortly after, it was removed.

Now, we run premix instead.

You lucky people with your self-serve gas stations.... Man I hate oregon.... "Wait, I gotta put some stuff in first.....". I hate explaining why I run premix to every gas attendant. LAME.

God love rotaries.

(btw, my "gas station" is in our garage at the moment. A.k.a. 54 gallon drum of 101 octane race fuel)

Wouldn't I just put thread sealer on the 2 big screws holding the body on? If that is indeed the case. I really wish I could tell..right now it's a very slow leak, so it's not SO bad, but if it's anything like the last one I put on, it will get really bad fast, and it will probably be too late.

Haha, well, lets do a story time

I bought the car, and it was leaking the oil. So I went ahead and ordered an OMP from a member here, and I went ahead and swapped that in, and it still was leaking *not bad mind you* Now for a month I just let it go. I, in that time, took another OMP and took out the seals and replaced them with new ones. Well, I left the old OMP in there still, and then out of nowhere, I leave a huge oil mess. It was doing 5-6 drops at a time, and this time it looks like it just poured out. So I'm guessing something happened to cause it to leak more. So I put the new one in there, and it's back to the 5-6 drops. I'm just afraid whatever caused it to leak really bad that first time, will happen again, and then it will be too late. I already check my oil every day/2 days...
