Apexi BOV kit and a quick question

I just finished installing the Apexi twin chamber I nabbed off ebay and I had a question. While I was installing it, I noticed that my BAC hose very loosely fit onto the stock in pipe( pictured on the right here, the nipple facing "up" ) and that it didn't fit at all on the Apexi replacement in pipe. So I wrapped some tape around the apexi pipe as a band aid fix and slipped the BAC hose over it. While doing this, I noticed the hose had a split in it(more tape for that ) and I finally got the whole thing together and in the car. So of course it leaks(I expected this) but what's interesting is that it causes my idle to climb up to 1800 rpms. I thought a leak here was supposed to make it drop lower? Also, did anyone else experience problems with their BAC hose not fitting the apexi kit? I'm hoping a new hose from mazda will not be as stretched out and fit more snug(maybe a clamp is in order). Sorry, I guess this wasn't such a quick post after all, haha, but if you made it this far, thanks for reading!

I wouldn't bother Mazda with that stupid hose.
Go down to the local auto parts store and get a length of coolant or heater hose - this will work just as efficiently.  Also, get a pair of clamps to seal the ends - Mazda does NOT clamp those hose from the factory...pretty stupid.

The BAC fitting side is 5/8", but I dunno what size your A'PEXi side is.  The GReddy one is 3/4" or 7/8" so it's significantly larger - so measure before you buy too small a hose!  You can clamp a larger hose into a smaller fitting, but it's a royal pain to stuff a smaller diameter hose onto a larger fitting!

Weird. It turned out that my BAC hose was oil soaked from the turbo, so I replaced the oil soaked BAC hose with a new mazda one($7!), thinking it would solve my high idle problem. But it didn't! The car still idles at 1500. What's going on here? No vacuum leaks that I can hear... TID is plugged securely, all the clamps are tight. Why is my formerly flawless idle now sitting at 1500?

A friend of mine suggested that I always had a small leak, and so I need to adjust my idle screw to get it back to normal now that I have eliminated the leak. This sounds very plausible to me, but before I go messing around with the idle screw(that is a one way trip!) I'd like some extra input. Anybody else have any ideas? Grassy ***!

maybe someone adjusted the idle when you had a leak. setting it higher. since you fixed the link, the rpm jump back up. just a thought!

Readjust idle, TPS, and idle mixture screw (Zenki only) to see if it helps.

Lol, I'm a TOTAL bonehead. I had the throttle cable wrapped around a coolant hose. I pulled the pedal up and idle dropped back down to normal. It's rerouted now. Sorry for the false alarm.

I don't really have any comments on the bov yet, I mainly picked it up as a preventative maintenance mod because the price was right and I'll be doing a haltech with a bigger turbo in the next few months. I'll see about getting a sound clip up. It's nice and pshhh-y, doesn't sound like a mentally disabled bird on methamphetamines(HKS) or anti-depressants(Greddy, everybody else).

hahaha man thats crazy! Anyway I was thinking about going with the TurboXS Type-H but my buddy has one and it sounds cool, but it just gets annoying hearing it all the time, and it bothers the neighbors at night (its LOUD). I've never heard the GReddy or HKS tho, but APEXi is my favorite company, all their products are the best!
