Apex Seals??
I plan on using them on my next engine. I think the main advantage is price, but it is debatable. Lots of people say that the 3piece mazda seals are best for sealing. I think that the Hurley ones will work just fine though.

Stop and think about this before you purchase those seals in lieu of the Mazda seals.
Mazda spent millions of dollars developing the rotary to what it is today. If it were not for them the rotary would be a curiosity and not on the street for the most part.
Their engineers determined the three piece seal was the better way to go. If there was a way to make it cheaper or more reliable they would have done it. I am speaking of a stock engine here. Obviously if you get into specialized applications then the factory specs may not apply. If you are building a relatively stock engine then I urge you to stick with the three piece seals.

I know several people who use Hurley's 3mm seals and have absolutely no complaints. I am putting hurleys in my car as well, i personally have never heard of anything bad with Hurley. Good luck with whatever you choose!
I plan to use them in most of my engines. According to my logic, when reusing old housings with uneven wear(all of them), these 2pc seals would work better because a) theyre less likely to wear the housing further according to the HME site, b) theyre twice as tall(versus the stock shoft top apex) so there's half the chance that a seal will fall out of its groove and tear **** up with wear, and c)theyre twice as tall as stock(versus the half and half pieces of the 3pc design), adn twice as rigid, thus theyll break half as easily.
ALso theyre cheaper than stock replacements, easier to install, and the corner seal is wider so it seals better in used housings with corner seal grooves already there. True, they wont seal as well as teh 3pc, just like a 1pc wouldnt seal as well as they do. BUt after you break them in it would run just fine. Ive driven engines that used them, and they run perfect. I dont see any reason NOT to go with these...affordable, easy to install, long lasting, stable.

Hurley seals work perfectly. Abel Ibarra (Flaco) uses them in his car. They work just fine only two pieces like the 12-A. Remember when you buy Mazda you also pay for the name... But if you got lots of money then go straight for Iannetti apex seals. Hurley also got $600.00 apex seals for high boost and nitrous (Racing) it is a "Double seal" Yes its like having two seals in the same slot, great for compression no way you will loose compression with these seals.

Thanks, for the info! I was thinking of using them, just wanted to see if any one had used them and how durable they are. I think I may stay with factory mazda ones though! One more question who would you suggest sending my rotors to for milling to 3 mm in california?

These are the most expensive ones they got. The regular set is $150.00 plus shipping. The last longer than Mazda. You do not have to do milling on the rotors if you use the regular ones. This is the website link: www.hurleyrotary.com
If one were building a N/A motor, what would you reccomend, this would be for a streetport motor, 230 flywheel hp max.
I was thinking just mazda 2mm for good sealing, since 3mm is overkill...
