headers, pulleys, and electric fans
headers, pulleys, and electric fans
I need to know everything you all know about the subject. I want a double wide belt polished aluminum underdrive pulley set, not a double belt system. I need to know what header is the best bang for the buck. I need to know what the difference is in a 6 and 4 port header. also need to know if I still need the O2 sensor. If I need the header with the O2 hook up that will narrow it down. Not going to run the AIR pump any more, but still whant to run the AC. I want an electric fan out of another vehicle I have a junk yard what do you think will fit. Opinions on dual exhaust or one single 3 split at the back into two pipes with two mufflers. No cats, and no presilencer.

Yes you will need to keep your o2 sensor.
On my RB header the wire for the o2 sensor was to short, it is a single wire sensor so you can just splice it with more wire and 2 butt connectors

Well what year is your FC? Do you know anything about the auxillary ports? They open for your high-end and are opened buy backpressure in the series 4s and by the air pump in the series 5. Thats something you need to consider. I bought the dual outlet header for true-dual exhaust without a y-pipe and it has a thing to hook the airpump up to to open the auxillary ports.
Oh ya, have you tried to use the "search" button on the upper left hand corner? You can look up 5th & 6th ports too because thats what the auxillary ports are called. About the fan I have heard alot of people using fieros elec. fans.

89 GTU. I wanted to unhook the air pump due to its horsepower drain on the motor. It does not enhance performance, only cleans the exhaust. by not having a cat on the car anyway it is pretty much useless to keep the pump on. I think the sensor needs to stay to control the fuel mix but I am not sure about this theory. do any of you know if the O2 sensor has anything to do with fuel delivery. If it is just used to send a signal to the air pump then I can take it off
You'll have to keep your O2 sensor the ECU needs it.Without it your check engine light will probably stay on all the time and you probably won't get as good of gas milage either. As for the air pump you can remove it but your six ports won't work anymore nor will the VDI in the manifold.I just wired my six ports open and my VDI to the high RPM position on my '89.My Racing Beat header came with an Air Control Valve blockoff plate. If you remove the air pump you won't need the ACV anymore either and can put the plate in its place.
