Anyone tried this before??

What you do is, buy a can of freon. Next you need a can tapper, and aluminum pipe that can hold up to high pressure. Then hook the pipe to the can tapper, then to a valve with a pressure gauge hooked up to it, on the other side of the valve, you hook the pipe to the valve, and run the pipe to the air intake duct (for n/a). Drill a hole in the air intake duct, get some kind of fitting for the duct, so that the pipe will fit air tight. Before, you put the pipe in the air intake duct, find something that will fit in the end of the pipe that will make the freon mist, so you don't use up all the freon and dosen't freeze the air. Last, mount the freon can near the fire wall and puncture a hole in the can with the can tapper, turn the valve just a little bit and you really have cold air in your intake. Me and a friend did this to his buick grandnational, the only difference was, we spayed the freon across the intercooler. Does anyone think it will work buy spaying it in the air intake duct??

try adapting yer AC to shoot into yer intake =) er, you'd probably lose more power to run the AC anyways haha

Ah dumping freon on purpose into the atmosphere is illegal in most of the United States...

Wouldn't the said freon therefore take the place of some O2 that would normally be going into the intake? Unless freon burns better than oxygen or I am completely reading this wrong

Freon will just displace air & starve the motor.

You wanna know why he used it in his intercooler?
The state change from liquid to gas makes the freon really cold, and whatever it comes into contact with will be cooled.
So if you put it down your air intake, you're just wasting freon.

You can cool your intercooler this way, that's fine, although I think you'de be wasting mucho $ on it.
You could always make a hackjob N02 system

Liquid nitrogen is as cheap as it comes. I've always thought about putting some on a metal grille and sticking it in front of the intercooler (I don't want to crack the intercooler fins).
This makes sense to me, at least..

8oz of liquid nitrogen is like $1

Freon is an inert gas (won't burn) so injecting it into your intake won't help.

Even thought your AC system could provide some cooled air, I doubt it would be anywhere near enough cfm that the engine would require.

If you could get ahold of an air to water 'charge cooling' system, you might be able to cool the intake enough to make some kind of difference, but your $$$ to do it would be better spent on traditional mods.

if u got that much $$ to spend on r-12 freon u may as well just buy a car that normally produces as much horsepower since u would be throwing ur money away in r-12..? dont ya think .
