anyone replace their factory headlight with..

an aftermarket lens that uses H4 bulbs?

if so, which brand do you use?

where did you buy it from?

how much?

how was the installation?

which bulb gives you the closest look to HID? (no blue tint! just white)

some guy is bidding a CRYSTAL DIAMOND LENSES with H4 bulbs on ebay. Just wondering if it's a good merchandise or a rip off.

thanks,

dewey

my friend bought those on ebay for his 87 mustang. when he put them in he said he had to dremel some of the light housing to get wires to clear or something. so you might have to lightly modify the the light housing for it to fit, but i dont know for sure. i was thinking about buying some of those, but i haven't decided whether to get those or make some kind of slim pop up headlights using fog lights kinda like how miatas do. he has the h4 bulbs that the kit came with and when they aren't on they look like they would be blue (it makes the reflective part blue in the day, but that wouldn't matter cause we have popups) but at night they look pretty much white.

I am also looking for a solution to my FC's urine-hued headlights. Hey Fingers, could you post a link to the Ebay store where you got your set?

I would be careful about an off brand housing, they may have bad light patterns. I just went with hella's, $55 each i think.

I bought some cheapy h4 housings off ebay. They SUCK BAD!! I have to use hi-beams to even see, with low beam I can see maybe 5'... I've adjusted them so that they're not pointed at the sky or my bumper and they still suck! Go with Raybrigs, or hella's!!! I wish I would have, Oh, if you want my old ones I'll sell them to you...

Just buy halogen replacement sealed beams and you'll be happy.

While we're on the subject, I know the "perils" of buying cheap H4 housings... but what about an H4 -> HID conversion kit? Do they work well (this includes the cheap e-bay ones)?

the hella conversions are pretty good.the aim is so much better than the stockers and depending on what bulb you go with like piaa or raybrig they are even better.

I got the clear lense ebay H4 conversion that came with the blue painted bulb.

They were terrible, so dim.

I put in Sylvania Silverstar H4 bulbs in the ebay housings and it is much brighter than 7 year old sealed beam lights and is a white light. I am very pleased.

As far as pattern goes, the cut off is crisp though they may need to be adjusted or are too bright as some drivers think they are my high beams when I am on low beams.

It could be the noticeable jiggle from stiff suspension pisses them off as well as it is never on the freeway. I will have to drive in front of my car once I confirm the adjustment.

Make sure you get quality (i.e. Hella, Raybrig, etc.) housings because HIDs put out more heat that halogen and they could melt a set of cheap plastic eBay housings. Also, remember that "JDM" housings are for people that drive on the left side of the street so the beam pattern will be backwards for US cars.

Has anyone gotten the glass H4 housings from Black Dragon Automotive? I figured they would be better quality than the cheapy eBay lenses but are only $30 a piece. I would defnitely use Silverstar bulbs but does anyone else have these? You gotta give him credit though, he did search LOL

I got the Raybrig sealed beam headlights. They are pure white and very bright. Simple drop in replacement, totally worth it.

So a h4 bulb will just plug right in to the stock plug?

Yeah I've seen those in action. Definitely a good alternative to HID's
