Anyone have a carbon fiber hood on their FC?

Serious!?! What are they made from then? Good to know. I hate CF products even more now. Love CF though.. cool stuff... just paint it for **** sake.

wax it and keep it clean i had a friend with a gst that didnt clean his for bout 2 months and it wore the clear coat off of it but after a little sanding and a new clear coat looks good again but costly for being lazy and not cleanin his car

fiberglass, with a thin layer of carbon fiber layed on top of it. Almost any street car you see with a carbon fiber hood is like this. Only race cars (for the most part) have real (entire) carbon fiber hoods. They will cost a few GRAND $$$ at the least

if your going to go with a FMIC it would be best to get a "drifter" style to help pull more air through the front of the car and not fight the air like a turbo scoop would.

Nope! My T2 type carbon hood is one layer of carbon and that's it. On sunny days you can open it and looking up from the underside, you can see the sun shining through the carbon weave. Looks kinda cool. The car (and hood) are Dave Gibson's old car (and hood) that I bought from him a couple of years ago. It's the model on his web page for the speed machine carbon hoods. They are quite a bit of upkeep though. I've got a stock T2 hood that I'm prepping to go on it because I'm tired of waxing it all the time.

even with a FMIC though, I love the turbo hoods. I just bought some CF to make a nice console for my S-AFC, Graddy turbo timer, PLX wideband and low profile CD player. And, I want a CF t2 hood to match it. Will post pics soon.

yes, 7 yrs strong and still looks new. Lots of regular waxing and polish and it has always been out of the sunlight when parked. I could buy 2 hoods now for the price I paid back then, and I wont have to wait until its made.

My hood is a Carbon Creations T2 hood. So tell me, is fresh air better than no fresh air entering the engine bay? I bought the CF hood because if you've ever lifted one up it weighs all of like 6 lbs. What other hood weighs less than that?
I also like the CF look, it adds a twist. You're able to get away with that stuff when your car looks good and puts down numbers.

As far as I know the scoop stops taking in air around 30mph or so. I like the fact that when I turn the car off all that hot air has a place to escape. And yeah weight is a bonus. Alot of guys dont like my hood and think its ricey or something. But then again my car always runs and theirs doesnt. I guess I would be a hater to if I secretly wanted one but couldnt afford a tune up.

I was just wondering... why do people get carbon fiber T2 style hoods if they have a front mount intercooler? seems pointless to me. Also, these "carbon fiber" hoods only have a tiny *** layer of carbon fiber on them. It's not like they are really carbon fiber hoods. A real carbon fiber hood would cost a few GRAND.
