Anyone have any bad expeirences with eBay brake rotors?

Well I need new front rotors, mine are getting a little too thin. I' m looking at these rotors on eBay but I'm a little skeptical of eBay rotors. I've heard/seen pics of cracked rotors and such. The company gives an option for drilled, slotted, or both. I'm gonna go with just slotted. I know in general you get what you pay for, but let's see what u guys think.

I almost bought some too. The thing is, they're not all the same. There's no such thing as an "ebay" rotor. they all come from somewhere. where? who knows. that's why I decided not to get a full set of slotted/drilled for $120. lol. well, that and I emailed some of the people who bought from him and have left positive feedback, beacuse most people leave feedback right away as soon as the transaction's done and good. but I thought I would like to know what those same people thought about the rotors after they had them on for 6 months. so I emailed. some responses changed my mind, people said they have started to vibrate, etc. one guy said the rotor just cracked after one 155mph braking incident.

I suggest you at least email some people who left positive feedback and ask how their rotors are holding up, and how long they've had them (and take it all w/ a grain of salt too, that's the other side of the coin)

at the end of the day, I decided to buy some blank (smooth) Brembos from www.nopionline.com b/c I was pretty sure they would actually be Brembos, and at just over $100 for the rear pair, that's as good a deal as you can get. otherwise it's "too good to be true"

be careful, use your head.

edit: the rotors I investigated and got responses on were not the ones you linked to. actually, the ones you linked to looked the most legit of all the ones I found on ebay (the price is a litte closer to what you'd expect). but still... you decide.

oh and for the record, I think slotted/drilled rotors are a bunch of hype. have you seen a vented FC rotor? It's already got PLENTY of air flow. christ, it's vented! take a look at one and you should also wonder "why would these need holes in them?"

tirerack.com agrees: http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/tech/..._track_use.jsp

that tirerack article has a drop-down menu above it with other helpful info on brakes. one thing they point out which really escaped me beforehand but we should ALL think about whenever we make ANY change to our cars is this: What do you want to improve?

it's tempting to get a hot-shot set of brakes because it's relatively cheap, and easy to install. but if you haven't pushed yours past the limit (and how many of us have?) then you don't know what needs improving. I won't be the first to say on here to say that stock FC brake systems are superb. run them on a track for a full day, HARD, and then sit back and think "What could have made them better?"

Personally, I've only autocrossed once so can't really speak on that aspect of my car with full confidence, but my brakes have never failed me on the street. not even close. the harder I push the pedal, the faster the car stops. I feel like I haven't really unleashed the power of the brakes, except that one time at the auo-x.

I'm rambling, but I just had a great bowl of Pad Thai chicken and I'm in a good mood

I'm only doing this because I NEED new rotors, and I don't feel like paying $90pr for O'Reilly rotors. I'm redoing the whole system while I'm in there too. Rebuilding calipers and such.

Might as well do it right the first time. Go look around for some Brembo Blanks (best stopping power) and get those. MAKE SURE they are real authentic brembo blanks. If you decide to get slotted or x-drilled, make sure Brembo did the slotting and x-drilling. Brembo does NOT making slotted AND x-drilled rotors for sure.

Tire Rack sells Brembo rotors for FCs for $60 a rotor for the front. They also now carry Brembo rear rotors, I can't remember the cost. In my opinion, that's the way to go.

Too lazy to see who asked, but to the person that asked about fade... I have the GXL/TII S5 brakes and yes I get fade all the time pushing the car, but I'm on stock pads... looking for new pads right now and they'll probably fix it. I don't think it was the fault of the rotors.

i purchased x-drilled and slotted rotors off ebay 2 years ago.......still have them on .......and they work great.......whoever says they dont help is full of ****!! my brakes got really hot real fast before while under harsh driving conditions....i had to get my rotors turned a few times due to warping .....they have never faded or warped since....and i havnt changed my driving style... they havnt cracked like everyone says they will either... and i drive the crap out of my car!!

i purchased them from a company called irotors..... go to www.irotors.com and look at thier selection.... i plan on getting the zinc-plated ones next time i purchase them....but i have yet to have them turned, and there isnt a lip on the edge..so it will be a while before i buy new ones...id say they are a very cost effective upgrade.....and they dont cost much more than stocks!!!!!!!!
