Anyone had a bad TPS cause their car to not start at all?

I need to know just that. I have gone through EVERYTHING in my 91 to try to get it to start. The onlything that didn't check out perfect was my TPS.

From my searching I got the impression that the car would start even if the TPS wasen't even connected.

Anyone know from experience?

I wouldn't mind knowing how to adjust the TPS and where it is, I'm not sure though.

My limite experience says the car will start if you disconnect the tps. Been there, done that. Several times. Series four.

Thanks Hailers, that is what I thought.

It's baffleing that it doesn't start. The primaries inject fuel when I crank, the spark plugs fire, and there is not a single thing that dosen't check out.

If you have not messed with the cas since it last ran, and you have fuel being injected, spark....most likely the thing is soooooo flooded that the compression is waaaaay toooo low. Just about the only thing to do is pull the plugs, spin the engine with the EGI fuse pulled to get all the old fuel out. Then somehow by hook or crook get some oil in the rotors. Then spin it with some oil in the rotors for a few seconds, reinstall the plugs, put the EGI fuse back in and start the car. The EGI fuse being the most inboard of the fuses in the engine bay.

Well I wish it was that easy. The thing starts right up if I inject gas directly into the intake manifold. When that is all burned it dies (a couple seconds). If I try to start it normally it doesen't even pop. No exhaust out the tailpipe, nothing. Just turning over like it's not getting fuel. Fuel system checked out perfect though. I saw with my own eyes, the primary injectors shooting fuel as my brother cranked the engine over.

You're sure the fuel pump continues to run after starting?

When I crank the engine the fuel pressure reading bounces between 38-40 psi, like it is pulsating fuel through the system. Is there any sure fire way to make sure the fuel pump is running when I crank the engine over. Like I said before, I know the primary injectors are injecting fuel when I crank the engine over. I saw that when I took them off the block and cranked it over.

You could have someone listen closely. If you've got good fuel pressure when cranking then I guess that's not the isse though.

Fuel lines are on the correct inlet & outlet I'm assuming.
