Question Anyone ever tested mufflers for flow?

I wanted to know if anyone has ever tested oh say ApexI N1's, RB mufflers, HKS mufflers, Borla, corksport, RE, etc. ????

This would be interesting information if anyone has it.

Apexi tests thier own mufflers, if you call them, they will give you the numbers.

Well, all I know is that Apexi has flow tested thier mufflers. Reason I even got any info is I wanted to know if the N-1 single was better then the dual. According to them, it isnt. Of course it costs more for the dual.. Coincidence?

Well, considering the single looks ugly, they want to deffer anyone from using it.

Ahhh...There it is... Actually, I was more concerned with function vs. form. Somewhere I heard that the single flowed better. Ugly being merely in the eye of the beholder. Or the Rat in this case...

It's a fact, rat, don't deny it! And how's 1 single going to flow better than two of the same size? Take two straws and blow through them, then blow through just one, and you've got your answer

Well, ordinarily, I would tend to agree. But exhaust doesnt necessarily follow the same principles as your gank-*** breath. Sometimes too much flow can affect exhaust velocity. Believe it or not, you can have TOO free of an exhaust (especially in a rotary, which relies on a scavenging pluse from the exhaust to get excess gasses from the chamber). So given this hypothesis, the single could THEORETICALLY have a better flow rate then the dual.

Obviously, The term Flow Rate here is not how fast you can pass air through the system, its how fast you can effectively get rid of exhaust gasses.

You didn't make much sense Mr.Rat, you just said having too free flowing exhaust will flow less, how is this possible? You're mixing up power with flow. And I'm well aware of turbulence

Cheater, who said you could edit while I was making a comeback!?

Flow doesn't rely on scavenging, quit thinking about the engine. The duals are gonna flow better, the single may have better performance due to scavenging, but performance and flow are different :-)

So, in essence, open pipes yield the best flow rate.
