anyone ever replace the heater core

anyone ever replace the heater core

What kind of hellish job is it, full dash removal? any tips?

yeah, your looking at a full dash removal, which isnt hard, just time consuming, ive pulled my dash twice, not hard at all.

Just make sure to go slow and DON"T force anything. Thats how stuff gets broken.

You do not have to pull the dash!

There is a white access panel held on by three screws under the dash on the driver side. Pull the panel off, disconnect the hoses and the core will slide right out.

thats just for the internal core, right? like if you wanna remove the whole heater core assembly thing its a full dash removal, isnt it? or can you get that whole thing out that way?

I figured it out, Nice advice, this thread should be added to the archive you saved me from removing the dash.

BTW its only 2 screws in an S-5 not 3

Is it that white plastic housing thing you can see by the gas pedal? (S4 TII)
Any write up on how to get access to it?
This would sure be better than pulling the dash.

meh, learn something new everyday, if i ever have to do the core i guess i wont have to pull that entire dash . . .
