When you lift with the engine at high rpm's, throttle plates nearly closed, so oil is drawn into the chambers, and with no cats you see smoke. Similar to a piston engine when you lift at high rpm's and oil is drawn into the cylinders from around the rings.
At least that's my take.

A healthy engine will smoke just a little when you floor it after a long deceleration.
More than a little is worn oil seals.
No big deal unless it bothers you, or the cop behind you.

Does the OMP dump a crap load of oil in the rotor too?

Not enough to matter. The metering oil pump actually injects only a tiny amount of oil.

The problem described is probably due to oil o-rings that are wearing out. It's a classic symptom.
