TRUE!!

The needle WILL stay at "normal temp" (right in the middle) until 230F or so!!

BTW - I don't get the whole "running cooler" theory, unless the thermostat has been removed...

Never remove the thermostat entirely even race only applications have what appears to be the outer ring of a thermostat to restrict flow. (that is a racing thermostat) If you remove it entirely it will take a very long time to warm up (bad fuel consumption) shortly after the flow not being restricted will not spend enough time in the radiator, and temperature will gradually rise higher than you want. If you don’t live in a cold climate run a very rich water mixture a hi pressure radiator cap.

An adjustable thermostatic switch for an electric fan is only 15 bucks hook it to an ignition wire so you cannot leave it on and kill a battery, and don’t trust yourself with a toggle switch. You only have to forget once.
