anybody have auto seatbelts fixed under recall only to have them stop working again?
i have an '89 GTU and the auto seat belt on the drivers side stopped working. so i called the dealership and gave them my VIN so they could look up and see that there is a recall for them only to find out that the previous owner had this fixed back in '97 and that the parts were only warrantied for 12 months. this seems pretty dumb to me because this is a major safety item and i would assume that if the manufacturer made a mistake in the design that they would be responsible for fixing it so it would last the life of the car. so i was just wondering if anybody else had run into this situation and if they somehow got mazda to fix it again.
thanks

Have them check Mazda Recall Campaign #68702. "In addition to performing this recall campaign, Mazda is extending the warrenty coverage on the driver and passenger automatic shoulder belt rail and motor for the life of the vehicle."
You can also get the NHTSA notice # 96V173000 on its web site and bring it to the dealer if you anticipate any further grief.
