Any luck with ramps?

Hey guys...

Don't have enough cash for a 2 ton jack.. my old one leaks hydrolic fluid likke CRAZY.

Being how low our cars are... and how low the bumper on the S5 is... have you had any luck with jack stands? DId your bumper rub or anything?

Thanks,
Jon

Stock height btw.

With my chin air splitter, ramps will not work.

I caught a sale at Wal-Mart last year (jack & 2 stands for $40)
The best part - it closed to 2.5" & raised to 19".
I still have to jack it some from the side first, to get enough clearance under the chin air spliter, to jack the whole front.

It depends on how steep the incline is on the ramps. It might not rub or tear up the bumper if it is a gentle incline. Personally, I do not like ramps at all. Too much margin for error. If I were you, Jon, I would just break down, go to Sears, and get a jack that comes with a pair of stands. You will be glad you did.

Mike.

It's called an apartment.

LOL

Rent + Power + Phone + INTRAWEB = NO $$$

(No I haven't moved out yet, but my parents are about 10 seconds away from kicking me out. I have some cash saved up to get this apartment... but I can't spend it.)

I can get a pair of jack stands for 10 bucks.
If I can find a deal at wal-mart... I'll be all over it.

I went to walmart.com - that website sucks ***, they don't have **** listed on there.

I would love to have a jack though. I miss mine. It was a damn good jack.

Yeah, dude I feel you on the money situation. I still say if you can at all get a jack and stands do it. It will save you wear and tear.

just use a combo of rhino ramps and ultraramps extensions and if your front end is about 4inches tall, or higher, you can make it up with out scraping (i use this combo on my fd and there is not a problem)

you can get ultraramps extensions at kmart or walmart and you can get rhino ramps at either checkers or walmart

good luck

P.S. if you do a search, i did post pics before on this server

Ah **** it.

Just called wal-mart. Even though I hate how they do biz... but damn ya gotta love cheap chinese ****.

2-ton jack: $20
2 jack stands: $10

Trusting your life to an 13 year old chinese boy who could care less about the american under those jack stands: priceless.

(p.s. no racial hate what so ever or anything meant by that...)

EDIT: Did NOT mean to have my sig posted 3 times... meh bad.

Just lay a two foot long piece of wood prior to the ramps. Now the car rides up on the wood prior to the ramps. That creates the clearance for the front undertray/bumper/whatever its called. Now the car can be driven up on the ramps without the undertray pushing the ramps back.

I went to advance auto and got a set of ramps for my RX. The clearence on my S4 vert seems to be a little lower than S5 verts and my nose clears it fine.

They are two part ramps. Both parts are metal and bolt together and fold away for (somewhat) easy storage. They cost $21 for the ramps and $24 for the low clearence bolt on kit (ramp extensions).

Pics later Tonight

I built some of these:
http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/...amps/index.htm

These were good enough to get my slammed Audi S4 high enough to get myself or a jack under the car.

All depends on the quality of the ramps. My friend's old DSM (91 Talon TSI) was slammed. Only way you COULD get it off the ground was to drive up on ramps, and if you needed it higher then you'd jack it up. But jacks didnt always *fit* so good under his car
