Another TPS question

Problems with full range TPS on S5 NA.

In the FSM, it says measure the resistance across E and D. But it does not say that the car must be warm. (I understand for the lamp test that the car must be warm).

The FSM says I should get 0.6ohm to 0.9ohm at idle.
Readings:
With the accelerated warmup system cold = 0.08ohm
With the accelerated warmup system hot = 0.1ohm

There is no way of adjusting the full range sensor so does this mean that I need a new TPS sensor?

Thanks

If memory serves, the full range controlls your OMP. What are your narrow range readings?

Not a biggy, but the fsm says the range is .6K ohm to .9K ohms. So the question is.......are you reading .1K ohm when the car is fully warmed up (as it should be)????? Or .1 ohm? Or????????

And did you set the tps to the book using the light method as describen in the book? Did it work??

Have you ever gone to your ECU with all the plugs on the car connected, and the engine fully warm and at idle, and read the voltage on pins 2G and 2F??? See the page F2-78, Control System, and the expected voltages at these two pins. If your cars tps meets these figures.....alls well. Just shove the meters positve lead up the back of the two pins on the plug and read the voltage. Negative on any good ground.

HAILERS, is the wideband for the OMP, or is it for the TPS?

Update:

I DID NOT DO THE LAMP TEST. I SIMPLY MEASURED THE RESISTANCE ACROSS "E" AND "D" AS THE FSM SUGGESTS. MY NARROW RANGE TPS IS OK. I AM RECEIVING AN ERROR CODE 12 WHICH IS FULL RANGE TPS).

I also did not warm up the car BUT I held the fast idle cam in the "warm" position when I measured the resistance. I did this with the UIM off the car.

The measured value was 0.08ohm at idle but I should be reading 0.8 to 1.2. There is no way of adjusting the full range tps.

I will now try reading voltage at the ecu.

Thanks guys.

Sorry I mean I measured 0.08K ohm.

You got the point - holding the fast idle cam off is as good as warming up.

The TPS may just need cleaning.
Get some contact cleaner & shoot it between the plunger & sleeve of both TPS's.
Work it in & blow it out.
It should give a smooth sweep at the TPS from ~1K to ~5K ohms.

Heck bubba, I don't know. I don't own a series five. Don't mess with those new fangled cars. Nothing but trouble.

Yeah, that tps sounds corrupted/snookered/whacked/stuffed. But then again, I don't own one so you got me.
