Fast way to diagnose a bad starter / solenoid most of the time: whack it lightly with a hammer or wrench a couple times then try to start. Go from there.

If you got a turbo and need a starter, I got one from an automatic which will do the job better from what I'm told... ~rich

same exact problem too.!

same exact problem on mine too. my 88 rx7 when i try to start it everytime, i hear one click...... then i take out the keys and then retry it again 2-3 more times and then it finally turns over and starts.....

2 weeks ago on a saturday morning i started my FC. after 3-4 hours i was about to leave to go to work and the car wouldnt even start. it wont even turn over. no clicks or anything. its like the car doesnt have battery/ not getting any signal to start.

i brought the starter and battery to an automotive parts store and they said that everything is fine....

Please help. chances are, we bought have the same problem.......

from what i heard from other people, it might be the switch in the clutch pedal or the igntion itself...... but i dont even know how to diagnose those.

when that happened to me, it was a dead battery

not enough power to move the starter, then again the starter could be bad.

update:

problem solved. i played around with the ignition contacts and the ignition cylinder part inside my car and when i finally turned my key again, lo and behold..... the car turned over....

clean the contacts on the ignition switch and play around with the ignition cylinder part.... mine was ok after that.

not to sound like an idiot but check the carpet...it sometimes slides up underneath the clutch and prevents it from being pressed far enough to start the car...it can happen...

OHH SNAP! I just looked and my carpet was all the way up under the clutch. Pulled it down and it fired right up!
