Indeed it does and unless you have the luxury of trying all three (or, like me,are crazy enough to actually install all three), you're going to have to guess.

At which time, do not fall into the "bigger/faster" is automatically better trap.
On a street car I found the slowest ratio to be the easiest to live with but the 17:1 (depowered S5 rack) would be a good compromise.
The fast 15:1 rack was overly difficult at walking speeds and too twitchy the rest of the time (especially with wider wheels on a crappy road).

I've got a S5 that is in the car. Right now I'm thinking I'll try to get a S4 to depower. That way if I don't like it I can revert back to P/S. Or if I do the job without screwing it up and I get a feel for driving the S4 and like it. Then I can convert the S5 and compare the two. Sell the one I like the least.

Or..another way to put it is I'll buy the cheapest I can find to do the first conversion and go from there.

The easiest- and probably cheapest- route would be to get a true manual rack and start with it.

im running te 15:1 rack completely depowered. seals removed abd all. perfectly fine. felt fine with 17x9 all around. not twitchy at all. iff anything i think the 15:1 rack would be ideal considering it takes less turn to turn the same amount it takes the 17:1 rack to turn the wheel to make the same turn.

its not all that difficult to manuever at low speeds unless your an idiot trying to do it with a smaller diameter wheel.
fwiw, im running a 360mm wheel. the 350mm wheel feels the same effort wise.

also a side note. the more "slammed" your car is the more bump steer ypu will have and i can see that ripping from your hands with a decent bump. ive raised my car up a bit and no sign of any bump steer. still low.

Hi Clokker, I am one of those people who should not work on their car. I need to find a new power steering rack, the dealer was unable to help with my Vin #. I can find one, But I am not sure if I have 2 or 3 ports on the pinion. It is a SE 5 speed. I am somewhat disabled, & unable to to tell. Thank you for any help. Mike Buffalo Ny

I have an improperly depowered 15:1 (86 Sport) rack and it's terrible (I'm going to be putting it back on and removing the A/C instead). I was able to get through the Dragon without any significant issues, but I would not recommend driving this way to anyone. I doubt even a properly depowered 15:1 rack would be worth it.

Takes lots of pictures and someone will help you with it. You can also put up a WTB thread in the right section and someone will provide.

The most logical reason to remove the PS is because your intercooler piping won't fit, otherwise you're dropping maybe 20 lbs of weight, it helps but you can take off weight in plenty of other ways.
