Another overboost question

will keeping the stock intake setup on the car, help keep the boost low enough till we can port the wastegate out?

Here is another option for us.

Keep the stock intake setup on, and leave the first cat on the car and run a pipe out the side?

Still too much boost?

87 T2. No mods, except the ones I have stated above, which are the ones in question now.

Ok so the car is completely stock and your worried about overboosting? You have nothing to worry about in stock form. A cone intake will be fine by itself. When you get rid the cats then you would have to worry.

What if, I leave the first cat on, and remove the larger one, will that create a overbosst condition?

Just looking for a anwser to this.

If you have the stock intake on, definitely not. With a cone intake, I guess it could, but doubtful. So you know, every car is not exactly the same. Cats are in different conditions, turbos are too. Best thing to invest in are some quality gauges.

With the setup you are talking about, you may boost like 8psi, no big woop. Just be careful. Get a boost gauge, and keep you eye on that and listen for detonation. Also, get a FCD now.
