another how much my car is worth thread..

ive been thinking of selling the car . i get in too much trouble with it never ends and i dont even drive it fast . getting sick of paying tickets .

its a 87 turbo 2 all orginial inside mint i got it from a first person owner with 91k on it . old lady owned before me . all electronics work mint no problems im surprised for a car this old . has no rot or rust . just a tiny bit of metal is bent under the fenders from jacking it . orginal paint from i can tell . last year the car threw the front apex seals and i began to rebuild it over the winter never got driven in the snow by me atleast .

fresh rebuilt motor almost 3k on it daily driven no problems. did all the work myself i got pics of the motor being put togehter and when it was apart . i got 2 housings and rotors with 48k on them everthing on the motor is s4 .
rebuilt it with ra super seals and the rest of the parts were mazda with ra gasket kit ,
act street clutch 3k on it
BNR stg 4 turbo i brought almost new
front mount piping made for the fc
turbo xs RFL Blow off valve
cusco coilovers forgot the model . they came from japan
3inch down pipe
real apexi n1 exhuast system (paid alot for this lol)
poly motor and tranny mounts forgot the brand
engergy suspension sway bar bushings all around
had a rtek computer but 1 of the injectors went bad so the car is back to stock form
2 row aluminum rad
nissan quest efan
i have too much stuff to list honesty . i spent clost to 7in parts paid 4k for the car in stock form heres some pics of it . as of right now it has a dent in the pass door and on stock wheels .

let me know wat u guys think its value is . i daily drive it EVERYDAY . i did do a compression test come to find out the battery was on 11v when i did it real numbers coming up soon .

you get more chances of getting your money back by parting it out and selling the car completely stock.
Believe or not I have spend about 10k on my car and it looks nowhere near clean as your's
since all my money went to the motor and I think I will spend another 2k on small little details such as suspension, paint, and new seats.

yet if I post it for sell i wont get more than 6grand

Then you will have $6000 in parts maybe $400 for a shell lol this why threads like this really don't help a seller.

Remember it's what the person wants to really pay.

If I was in the market for an FC with tastefull mods I would look for-
1-S5 turbo 2 by vin
2- reputable shop rebuild with compression numbers
3- full list of mods (quality parts)and fabrication done
4- non- rtek management system
5- great exterior with tastefull body mods
6- nice set of quality wheels
That FC is a $5-6k FC that I just described

If you think that your FC is valued at $4+6= $10k then do you but remember for $8k FDS are starting to show up

Great looking car! Sick of getting in trouble with it, eh?

Paint it white, install the Racing Beat REV TII exhaust, and slap some sort of "state patrol" sticker on the bumper.

What are you going to get next? You can't stay away from the RX... It isn't possible. You'll be back. They always come back.

sorry i figured some 1 would rather trust a car that was built and put together by its owner no 1 else ever ever ever touches or drives my car . thats why i had 0 problems with it driving it . besides me not having a stand alone yet . theres too much for me to list like i said just looking for a ballpark . im honestly set on 5.5k - 6k with stock wheels . I KNOW i will never get my money back im taking a big hit if i do end up selling it .

Is this thread for you to ask us what we think it is worth, or for you to tell us what you think it is worth?

You mean that original, unmolested cars sell more than cars that are pimped out? Say it ain't so!

The paint is not original. The original car had black trim, while yours is painted-over to make it look more like an S5. Also your car has S5 tail lights installed. That old woman sure was a hot-rodder!

As for your "mint" interior, do you mean the scent of the air freshener? FYI "mint" condition means exactly as it was from the showroom when new, which your car is not. However, the interior does look like it is in pretty good shape.

OK, let's see pics of the car you're actually selling, not the way it once looked.

it's a $4500 car, don't kid yourself. you aren't getting your $6k invested back. i have $20k invested into my car and i would be hard pressed to get maybe $7-8k for it.

and the paint isn't original, all series 4's had black natural trim on the outside of the car with the exception of the 10th AE.

if you want the most back out of it put it back to stock, get close to the same amount of money and sell your modified parts separately. sometimes the truth hurts, you don't buy one of these cars to get your money back out of them.

one of the cars i helped a customer build only fetched $6500 after he sunk over $20k into it and it was a 10th AE, however it was a molested 10th AE and no longer original.

the car is only worth what someone will pay for it. i paid $6500 for mine and another $1k to have it shipped from Utah to Rhode Island. so $7500 total for a stock 88 turbo II. of course it only had 40k miles and everything worked. i would have probably paid up to $5.5k for yours depending on the cosmetics of it. to bad you weren't selling it back then.

i probably wouldn't even attempt to look for a trade for a non running FD, sell the FC and get what you can and then buy a rolling FD to build. i say that because most FD owners are even a bit mean about stepping back down to an earlier generation RX7 and will just leave you angry and disgusted. money talks.

i have seen some pretty nice and clean FCs offered up in trades for FDs only to get hostile responses. but have also known a few to get decent amounts for an FC to turn around and buy pretty nice FD starting platforms that simply needed an engine rebuild.

This.
And when you do start looking for a good rolling FD, expect to face some real competition.
They are relatively rare to begin with and have become extremely popular with engine swappers who like the beautiful body, (relatively) commodious engine bay and wonderful suspension.
The market in FD world is completely different than with FCs, whether rotary purist or piston swapper, these guys have a lot more money and are ready to spend to get what they want.

Also be aware (if you care) that the FD interior is a real moneypit.
Mazda claimed weight savings but the end result is that any panel that has ever been removed is probably broken to some degree.
Competition is fierce for the commonly destroyed parts and prices for seemingly inconsequential parts are stunning.

yep, almost every FD i have driven has creaks, rattles and pops. suspension and interior are almost as much upkeep as the rest of the car if those noises bother you like they do me.

7's in general have gotten cheaper as time went on with the interior, but the same can be said for almost all manufacturers. i prefer the old days, the '74 REPU for example i simply picked up a sheet of fiber board, cut it to shape of the door panels, applied adhesive and stapled the fabric to the backside and it looked pretty damn amazing and was so simple. everything these days takes days to replicate. new replacement parts are non existent and excellent condition used parts costs a grip.
