Another Horn Issue (S4 GTU)
Another Horn Issue (S4 GTU)
So after getting an unpleasant call from my friend that my car’s alarm went off, I was a little annoyed, but actually curious. My horn was going off with the alarm, but the horn and button on the steering wheel never worked (aftermarket wheel button was never wired). However, I went to go get the horn running yesterday but after trying to connect the one crimped wire in the wheel to the metal wheel hub (assuming that’s the ground for the horn and the wire is power), I did measure 12V across the wire. Unfortunately the horn didn’t go off as I hoped. Seeing that the horn itself is still functional from the alarm, but didn’t go off here, what could be wrong? I heard of cold solder joints on the cpu but didn’t think it was the issue if the alarm set it off. Any ideas?

I recently got my horns (3) working on my 10th AE.
One of the horns is for the alarm only while two of the horns work off the steering wheel.
I cleaned all contact surfaces for grounds and connectors. Also tuned them for sound while adjusting the screw on back.
Works fine now.

My '86 Sport came with two horns, but my '90 GXL only came with one horn. There's a place to bolt in a second horn, but the wiring harness terminates with only one electrical connector.
