Another Blown Seal Post

Alright, I need some info plz, I am supposed to drive 660 miles friday, and i need to know if my FC is F'D up.....

Ok, the coolant filler neck on the engine broke, and I spilled coolant all over my engine, well thats fixed now, and my coolant holding thing, is over filled and she spits like a 20 cent hooker. I dont think anything is wrong with my car, but I dont have any other problems, I know the car runs rich, and it does smell of fuel, because my putz friends cant use my fuel cut switch..

I need a do or die test to do to my FC before I take it on a trip........

Thx Tancred

From the limited knowledge that I have, the situation you are explaining means that one of your water seals is bad.

Engine= Toast

It sounds like compression is getting thru to the cooling system.

If that was to be the case, it depends on your budget.

start the engine and let it warm up. once it gets to operating temp, look in the coolant overflow bottle and see if the overflow tube is blowing bubbles. If it is, 99.9% of the time the rotors compression is getting past the coolant seal and into the coolant system. Requires rebuild.

Also, when you first start the car, does it have to crank for a while before it starts? Do you notice white smoke out the exhaust? (Not steam, but thick white smoke) Also smell the exhaust (don't snort, inhale, huff or intoxicate yourself on the carbon monoxide) to see if it smells sweet like antifreeze. If it does, or if you see smoke, you have a bad coolant seal. I have used stop leak to plug a broken seal once. Before the stop leak, the car would not start unless I pulled the ignition fuse and cranked the engine to blow the coolant out of the rotors. After the stop leak, I could let the car sit for a week, turn the key and she fired right up. Only problem was that the stop leak wasn't built up enough to stop the rotor from pressurizing the coolant system so the overflow filled up and would never suck back into the system when the engine cooled down so I had to dump it back in to the radiator every day or two. Use stop leak at your own risk. I'm not responsible for anything that happens to your car if you decide to go this route. Not that I think something could happen, but you know. Fat people try to sue McDonalds cause they are fat so anything is possible.
