am i screwed?

So i changed the thermostat in my 89 gtu on thursday night. drove it 66 miles about 2 hours later, it started leaking just as i got into town since i hadn't given it 24 hours to seal like your suppose to. resealed it friday morning and left it until sunday. didn't seem to work on sunday so we pulled it out cleaned it off, and did a radiator flush, put it back in and resealed it. drove it two miles today to visit someone, didn't seem to be having any issues. stayed there for about 20 minutes came out and couldn't get the damn car to start. checked the coolant level and had to add about 2 quarts. finally decided to push start it, and drove it home, the entire 2-3 miles back it was smoking like crazy and smelled like it was burning coolant, the temp gauge never went above the middle. whats going on with my stupid car??

It's crying in pain. Light it on fire and claim insurance.

But seriously, dropped coolant seal. You more than likely overheated it and don't want to tell us. But its ok, the motor already spilled the beans.

Time for a rebuild or a T2 swap.

between each rotor housing there are seals that keep coolant from entering the combustion chamber, along the course of you messing it up, sounds like you blew one or all of these seals.

im having to rebuild my 13b (previous owner blew it), but i still drive it. ive had the firedepartment called because they thought it was on fire once

Was the coolant light on? I mean really, that light does not typically malfunction, it goes off for a reason. The temp gauge didn't go over half way because there was no coolant even going past it; your engine drank it all!

You fried the engine.
