im just wondering, not actually do it, but if your motor is burning coolant, bad coolant seals would the head gasket repair they sell at ato stores be a band aid to this? or pistion motors only?

I highly doubt it, as head gaskets are metal, and coolant seals in a rotary are soft

i've heard of people pouring 2 jars of k& something block seal in the radiator
and letting the car run for a while,
then draining it back out and filling the car w/ coolant.

I think it would work... for a quick fix till you could get a rebuild...

i will NEVER again use any brand stop leak in my coolant system. The best you can get is Bars, but even that leaves gunk in your radiator. If you use more than a few cans youll have nasty much soup in the bottom of your radiator that will go through your system. Does next to nothing for leaks, but does make a nice mess!

Of course it would had to have worked for some people or it wouldnt be on the shelves ( I guess anyway)

Go to http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/. He has some useful information on it. If it gives you time to save up for a rebuild. I think you would use it.

If you use it right. Which 90% of people don't. I know cause I used to work for advance auto. It can work.

Most engine block sealers don't mix with coolant. You have to flush the system.

ive heard it was not a good idea to run it for a long time, others have said its quite detramental.

but if it works till you can afford a rebuild, go for it and let us know if it remedies the problem.

good luck.

Amen to that brother.... I just pulled apart an engine that was in a parts car.... they must have used a couple cans of that crap.. all of the housings/plates were full of it, the water pump was caked with it, and it came clopping out of the radiator lower hose..

That stuff is nasty, and some of the coolant passages in the housings are so small, I could see it "stopping the leak" and plugging up your whole coolant system. I wouldn't risk it on something as important as the cooling.

I used it a year and a half ago (Bar's Leaks head gasket repair), I've driven hard, redlined, and it hasn't leaked a drop. What more can you ask?

And you used it to stop what sort of leak? I didnt say it wouldnt work, but my experiance has been terrible. Of course all of my usage was on piston engines, but as far as cooling goes Id imagine it would be about the same.

I've used something we call Liquid Glass, I think the proper name is sodium silicate. If it's not a major leak or majorly blown head gasket, it works great. You have to flush the system thoroughly, pour 1 jar (1 qt) of it in, fill it up w/ straight water. Let it run for a couple hours, drain and flush it again thoroughly, and let it sit overnight. Then fill it back up w/ coolant and go. Did it to a Caprice we had one time that had a bad head gasket, we drove it for 2 more years, sold it and that guy drove it another year before it finally died.

Sorry, it was for a pretty bad coolant seal leak.
