Alternator swaps ?

Ok well I got a t2 with a blown motor to finsh my 6p turbo set,5lug swap, and t2 drivetrain . Well I I start to take it down to short block form I notice the alt is not stock and neither is the serp belt pulleys ( alway v-belt on my 7's ) the alt. has a 2 pin connector that is oval shaped and the case is way bigger then my stock . What swaps are out there that are not Mazda . I know a pic would be better but I'm at my kids karate class right now killing time

The FD alternator came with a Serpentine Belt pulley..
maybe the last owner put on the FD pulleys instead of sticking with the V belt setup.
The FD alternator has the same harness Connector as the S5.

You can swap any alternator in as long as you can mount it somehow. Taurus alternators are popular non RX-7 swaps.

Apparently you can also swap on the serpentine pulleys from the FD to the FC eccentric shaft hub and water pump. It won't work on the accessories I don't believe. They're offset too much.

Sounds like you've probably got an FD alternator. It's a good upgrade, 30 extra amps

FD alternator does not have a round plug...at least mine doesn't.

Not sure what you have however, a pic would help as you stated.

Pics of S4/S5/S6 alternators:

I was going to ask you what it was rated at. This is the first I've ever heard of an RX-8 alternator swap.

Sorry to get in on this conversation, so late, but what Alt is >>> THIS!?

I mean, going by his Holiness' diagram (ICEMARK) this alt is somewhere between an S5 and S6 (It has the same plug as the S5, but a side post like the S6.... Any help, here?

Mine:

ICEMARK'S diagram:

I had an FD alternator on, but it was anemic, sometimes and prone to diarrhea , so I swapped (what I initially THOUGHT was) my S5 alt back on....

Luckily the new FD alt and double-pulley will be in next week....

Speaking of dub.L pull.Es: True of False: Gilmer drives will eat your bearings.
