Arrow Alternator problem....

Ok now that the water pump is on my car I noticed that when I start her up the volts are below 12 and my lighter adaptors shows "LOW POWER" for my radar detector and CELL charger the volts will rise up to 13-14 if I reve it a couple of times above 4k rpms but I know that something is wrong. What could this be? How could I fix it?

well I now have the dual alt pully and both belts are new.
There is only like 1.2 inch of play in the belts right now. And the volts stay at normal levels after i rev it even when the RPMs drop to normal levels. would a loos belt do that too?

belt slipping until it gets warm enough was what I was leaning towards.

I suppose it could be a bad regulator in the alt as well. Mazda OEM or reman'd alt?

It came off my parts car so i am guessing it has a load of miles under its belt. It looks like the one i had with the Mitsubishi sign on the back. how would I distinguish the difference between the two types?

Alot of electrical parts on the RX-7 and alot of other cars are made by mitsubishi electric's, which also makes electrical stuff like TV's to. Is that what you meant or was that way off, I didn't really understand what you were asking.

Why don't you just take it to an auto parts store, and have them test it? They will do it for free. And if it is bad, just buy a new one. They don't cost that much.
