Alternator connection, discolored.
Well, problem is, the connection at the alternator, the round connector, I replace all the wiring. The new connection became discolored and the rubber around the wire melted. But, only at the alternator. The end that is in the fuse box, was just fine.
I am guessing that the connector I used couldn't handle the amps. I bought some new connectors, but they are only rated for 45 amps. Which, I believe the stock alternator is 70 amps, and I am getting an FD which will put it to 100 amps.
Any connector you guys suggest? All copper? Also, what size wire to go from the alternator to the fuse box? I am using 10 gauge. Is that alright, or should I go for 8?
Thanks!
