SeaFoam

Works wonders. Ive used it on my Rotary Engines Old and New without any problems. Its primary function is to remove carbon deposits..

Didn't someone say that the RX-8's owners manual recommends redlining the engine at least once per drive?

Redlining, MMO works great for restoring compression too.

Been doing this for 13 years. Keg's never been opened, pulls strong, uses less oil than my wife's daily driver. And really, why wouldn't you want to zing it through the gears at least once per trip? I didn't buy the car to commute - I bought the car to have fun.
I'd start with the steam cleaning first before trying MMM or Seafoam; those are essentially solvents, so they break down the oil in the chambers, and may swell or otherwise impact the seals; no experience here, mind you, but it occurs to me that could be an issue.

I'd treat them as last resorts - in piston engines, you do those when you're going to change the oil anyway, because the solvents and released carbon will contaminate the oil. Saturn S-series DOHC engines are prone to sticking oil rings due to carbon buildup, leading to high oil consumption and the MMM or Seafoam are often suggested; I've not done with my wife's (it get's exercised well, too!), but my dad did it on their low km S, and oil consumption improved, so there seems to be something to be said for it.
