alright we got problems

alright so every... ide say anywhere from 5 to 15 seconds my car will miss or "pfff", not real loud, just barely noticeable, so im thinking maybe the timing is off, so i go to time it and i realize the idiot who had this motor in his car before i put it in mine spray painted the front cover with the pulleys on it, so the timing marks are covered up, bad thing is those timing marks are painted on, so if i try to use paint remover or scrape it off, even carefully i will remove those timing marks... ****. so what do i do? the reason its missing has to be the timing. ive set tps, new plugs, (didnt replace wires tho) but they look good... ngk's... and i cant get it to idle up either, its sittin about half way between 0 and 1 so im guessing on the rx thats about 600 to 650. i put wire in the jumper terminal after setting tps and then turned the idle screw... it sounded like it wanted to idle up but it was like something was holding it back then it just went back to where it was, about 600 to 650 im guessing. as for the idle i know it could be a vac leak but ive replaced most of the lines (got rid of emissions = less vac lines) and put new intake gaskets on. and as for the missing i really think its timing

the marks are etched on the pulley, so even though they are painted, you should still be able to see it...

The original timing marks have little indents on the rim of the pulley, on the engine side. They are small, but you should be able to see them.

I think most will do that, rev to like 3k and hold it and it'll miss. Though I havent really tried with my ignition amp.

I know mine will and when I took it to MazCare to fix emissions stuff he said that it's completely normal to do that.

dang. there were no etched in marks... and theres no way the timing would be off so bad as to not even see them on the whole topside of the pulley as the light strikes. it runs too good to be that bad out of time.... thats odd.

whoever told you it is normal for your car to miss doesnt know what there talking about, becuase a properly tuned car should not miss. i dunno maybe its becuase i havnt changed my wires when i changed the plugs, but i tested them with an ohmeter. both leading came real close to 8 ohms and both trailings were almost dead on at 5 ohms... i dunno

does it stop when the car is warm or cold? if it does it when its cold then thats because the engine is dumping in too much fuel. this is normal.

And people like you should check your facts before making BS claims like this.

The fact is that the ignition system drops every 4th spark or so due to the wastespark'd leadings.
Someone posted a log'd o-scope on the leadings, and it's really obvious that is drops.

Now, go find out why this happens...
