86 rx-7 overheating

my 86 rx7 is overheating. i have recently replaced the water pump, thermostat, thermostat housing and hoses. as far as my haynes manual is concerned, the only things left to do are changing my radiator or re-ajust the timing. if anybody has a better idea of what the problem might be feel free to post it. also, i have smoke coming from the bottom rear of the block on the right side and my oil pressure gauge is through the roof even after a full oil change. any advice would help, thanks.

When does it overheat? When not moving, when driving, all the time?

What the hell? I just answered you on your other thread.
As I asked there, when is it overheating? They mean different things.

No, thats not a problem with the fan. It only works at very slow speeds. Assuming to replaced the thermostat with a stock unit, it sounds to me like your radiator is clogged.
This page has good info: http://aaroncake.net/RX-7/cooling.htm Go down to the "constantly overheating" section.

is it possible that it is clogged where my lower rad hose goes into the block?

To check the fan: get a paper towel roll poke into the fan. Engine must be at operating temp to do this that way you can tell if it is really the fan clutch. If fan stops then you have a bad fan clutch. I had one go bad on my 87 TII so I just replaced with an e-fan.

I guess its possible, but unlikely. Since you replaced the water pump and thermostat, it sounds like the rad is the only other thing that could be the problem. After it runs, feel around it (carefully) and see if there are hot spots. If one part is cool while another is hot, that means its clogged. If its super clogged, it could be the same temp all the way accross, though.

i appreciate u guys takin the time to answer my questions this was the right place to come to.but i think ive concluded that the seals in my engine have failed causing gases to mix with the coolant.it makes the most sense.so my next question is...does anybody know where i can find a good deal on an engine for my 2nd gen

I drove around for over a year with a bad fan clutch (do not try this at home, kids) and the temp never raised except in traffic where I was sitting for a long time. That only happened twice since I never drove it where it would sit more than the length of a single stoplight.

To the OP, how are you sure that the coolant seals are bad? I went for a while with bad coolant seals and it didn't overheat until it ran out of coolant.

Why do you say that the seals are bad? Do you get a ton of white smoke? Do you have lots of bubbles in the filler neck?
