Question All Who have the RB header and presilencer with no cats reply

Hey Guys, I recently put in with a great deal of help from 13b ace, the Racing Beat Header and presilencer in my 91 n/a. It sounds great! It is loud outside the car though. Before I was running a tripoint high flow cat(which was fried in a little over a year) and no precats. Because of the high quality of the presilencer it is much quieter inside the car. I can actually leave my radio on low and hear it and talk to a friend with out shouting. I am just worried that I am going to wake up the cops. Anyone else with the same set-up please tell me your experences with this set-up. Do you get harassed allot? I live in N.Y. so anyone that has this set-up and lives in N.Y. it would be great if you reply. Of course I am very illegal in N.Y. as well.

Thanks Dave

I have that setup except I am using the HKS 50mm catback.I don't know how it compares noise wise to the RP one.I know the Racing Beat is louder than the HKS.I haven't had any trouble but I'm in TN and the cops may be more tolerant here.

the RB header I have is not that loud as long as I am driving sane.... well how often do we RX7 owners do that though :-D

but yeah the car is loud on the outside as far as I can tell never really heard it but when just doing normal cruise or anything I have not had any problems with noise or anything. the cops dont harrass me or anything. tho only ppl that seem to care are hondas, v6 mustangs and camaros, and well my ex g/f and her berreta.

though doesn't it just send chills up your spine when you get on it and then the 6 ports open up and you hear that noise these rotaries make. just music

I wonder if they work on a dual setup with no y-pipe?
If he doesn't use a y-pipe and wants maximum flow then he'll need 2 presilencers. Another way would be to have two pipes merge into one into one presilencer and run a small y-pipe off of the presilencer to the mufflers.

RB headers & pre-silencer with HKS 50mm

No problems at all in MD, VA, DC, NYC, However got me a ticket in PR ($250)...I wasn't detained because of loud noise. Word of advise:

If a cop pulls you, SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!

KNO

BTW - I hate driving @ 3500 - 4000 rpms

I have the RB header with a presilencer from a Bonez cat pipe, and a RB cat back. The car is pretty loud. I can hear it coming up my street from inside my house, but that's because of the deep bass note. Inside the car it's not too loud. You have to speak up a little to have a conversation. I can easily turn up my stereo loud enough to hear it well over the exhaust, up to about 7k rpm. My stereo is not all that special. Just a Pioneer head unit, good speakers, and a Kenwood powered 8in sub in the back. I have never had a problem with the cops here in Texas because of noise.

I do believe that the presilencers work w/o a Y-pipe. If you go to mazdatrix.com & look at the racing exhaust they have a full true-dual setup using those presilencers.
