All TPS's the same?

I was just wondering if I could replace my TPS with any other TPS. Or do I need a yr/model specific one?

89-91 Tps's are actually the same as well... they just utilize 2 instead of 1 .. and the wire colors are diffrent.. but easy enough to figure out which wire is whice so long as you have the old one to refrence to.. It's easy enough to remove each of the tps's off the 89-91 bracket (bend up the tabs) and put them on the earlier bracket .. if you do end up finding a tps unit from a later model car, you'll end up with an extra one to spare..

I'm doing just great thanks
I wasn't away from the rotary scene too long .. was contemplateing buying a miata but the GF absolutely hated the car (It's too small and impractical she says ) so I went out and bought an 88 10AE (Still impractical, but she likes it a bit more then the miata)..

How the heck have you been? havn't seen much outta you lately

The 89+ TPS's read differently in their ranges. One is full range, which is great for things like S-AFC's because it allows you full range of TPS, where the 86-88's are partial range.

Hey TonyTurboII,

I would take a meter and a friend along when you go for the used part. While one of you makes like a throttle (manually pushing in the actuator), the other watches the meter. If it meters correctly, you should be good to go.
