Guys, this has to be a troll. Seriously.

Also, the NA 'verts are slow, period. They're heavy, with no more power than any other NA model. You can mod all you want, but it is doubtful you will get out of the 15s without going to forced induction or nitrous.

If your car overheats and smokes, then there is definitly something wrong. Those two symptoms tell me that your engine is on it's way out. Probably due to lack of care by the previous owner.

RX-7s are NOT slow. While the NA cars will never be horsepower monsters, they are certainly quicker than most. Once you learn to drive them, you'll find that they're a formidable performer.

If you want real speed, you need to go to forced induction. It's just that simple. You can mod the NA engine to make some extreme power, but you will end up with something that is not very streetable.

It seems like you should have done some research on the RX-7 before you just went out and bought one on a whim. If you wanted pure speed, you should have went with the TII or at the very least either a base model '86 NA or a '90 GTUs NA.

You've got to be kidding me. How old are you?

Listen up. We read your post and we all know why your car is slow. You're the one that is not listening. The S5 vert is the heaviest RX-7 EVER PRODUCED. Over 3000 lbs. Mods are not going to help unless one of those mods is a turbo.

You sound pissed, but guess what? Its not our fault. You bought the car. Didn't you test drive it? Didn't you do the research to see what kind of potential the car has?

Don't you dare come in here and call people you don't know idiots because of your mistakes. Your beginning to **** people off. Remember, the RX7club knows about you.

Sell your vert. Sell it now because I don't want you to be associated with RX-7s in any way. Get off this list and stop wasting our time.

I get the feeling this guy might be a troll. Seriously, it takes almost no research to figure out that the vert is the slowest 7 that was built, and the only thing slower than this guy's car would be the auto vert. A TII drivetrain swap would certainly make it faster, but I don't think this guy's up to it technically, if he's cutting coils on his springs.

Buy a real car, get a T2. If you want a fast vert... sell it and get something else that's a vert.
"Street Racing game", Josephi already hit on that one...
Instead of slappin those big heavy wheels on it, you shoulda done more performance mods to it. Cut springs?... those only hurt your performance. You couldn't spare like $200 to get some real springs?
Get a RB complete exhaust, CAI, put in a 4 port 89-91 NA motor into it and BP it with all the neccassary upgrades or just smack a T2 motor in it, mod it and be done with it.

Buys it, spends money on it, still can't get it to run right, and sells it off for cheap.

You did a few things wrong but I think you already know it.

1) You bought a heavy car.
2) You slapped some large wheels on it, which effectively killed your rear end ratio.
3) You ran race gas. No need to run race gas with a non-turbo rotary engine. Probably hurt you more than it helped.
4) You didn't do your homework. Or else you're pulling our collective legs.

So dont get mad at me cuz i no a real car from a fake.
Judging from your list of cars that you have owned, I would beg to differ.

Lessee......

(cars owend ACURA-integra 99gsr,90legend ls,87legendv6,-Toyota-supra87 mark4 n/a Pontiac- grand am 2001 gt v6. These are just some of the cars i have owned in the past two years ...
See what I mean? 'Nuff said. Buy a turbo if you want to street race. Oh yeah, and stay away from my neighborhood w/ that chickensh!t street racing, take it to the track.

I guarantee the guy is just here for ***** and giggles. I bet he doesn't even have an rx7 and got owned by one so he's coming here for paybacks. Who would buy a car before they test drove it?

Do not use race gas in a NA!! This has been discussed many times - lower octane is better in a NA. Try running 87 octane and see the difference.

I have a 91 convertible (N/A) and I can beat at least half the cars on your "list" of cars that you raced. It is definately the driver that is causing your car to be so slow, all be it that it is not an especially fast car in the first place.

stop whining about the car being slow when it is your fault.

As a Legend owner, I like to reiterate some of Alexis' old writing regarding the need for speed. Just cuz you can "slap on aftermarket goodies don't make you a genius", having the ability to inquire/seek furthur knowledge so as to arrive at better decisions is more relevant. Anyone can turn a flathead, but how you tweak a holley or webber takes a bit of thought process.
Before you spew out any more negativity, just remember this forum has lots of knowledge and a touch of class. If you take the time to read, you too can afford to build a very reliable 12 sec/lower Rex that can hang/ with the Z06 and 911TT, etc.

his car is probribly slow from low compression or blow rear rotor.... It is hard to get out of a piston engine'd car and get into a RX..

p.s. I think he needs to learn howto drive a car better.. I have a 87 base lightly moded and i'v eaten most of the "lost" and how ironic i raced a completely riced (kind of nice looking) acura legend, and won! He did get me off the line but 100feet later he was in my dust. I would also like to mention - you sound like you need a compression test and for info you can't (accuratly) test compression with a standard compression testor goto a mazda dealer or rotary specilest.

This post is just too ****** funny
Do you guys relize this dudes probably already gone, along with the 7
We all proved that he knows nothing about the rx7 and hes got nothing to do with the rx7club at this point, and this is all do to his negative post on his car. Insted of bashing all us rx7 lovers he should of came in and asked simply "why the **** is my car so slow?" That would of sufficed
