doesnt look like it. it looks like that little air filter looking thing (underneath the yellow-top radiator cap) is where the air pump should be. if you took the same picture at the opposing angle (from the left side towards the right), it would be easier to tell. i think it sticks out far enough that we could see it, but i dont recall.

Well, that filter indicates to me that the airpump IS still there. Otherwise what would the filter be on?

I still think it's there, that filter is on something, and it wouldn't be on anything else but the airpump, especially right there since that is where the airpump goes.

If it's not there, no it's not hard, you just put in the tensioner bracket, bolt the airpump in, put on the belt, and hook it up to the ACV. FSM outlines everything nicely, I needed a refresher when I had to throw it in for emissions

theres a little pipe that the rubber piece thats on the air pump actually fits on, i believe. i know the open pipe is there for sure, so it would be no problem throwin a lil filter thingy on there.

Huh? The open pipe cant exactly come off the airpump, as far as I know. So it'd still have to be there... Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying.

you sorta forgot the cat, the MOST important thing to help pass emissions. a pipe runs all the way to the cat. it MIGHT still be on there, but if someone removed the emissions, i imagine that is no longer there.
and i dont think the pump is there. like i said, theres an open pipe the smog pump feeds into that the filter could easily be on.
does the car have a catalytic converter on it? is there a pipe feeding into it? is it *gulp* the stock factory cat/exhaust??

Too late! I took pics of mine

Here are two pics of the airpump, see if this is in the engine bay where casio described. This is why I think it's still there, the filter is there and the hard pipe the filter goes on cant really still be there without the airpump:

yea, i believe youre right. mine looked very different (i was gonna mention i have an S5) and the pipe i was referring to wasnt on the air pump, but what you see when there in the lack of one. it was much further back than i remember (gimme a break, i havent driven my car since jan 31st ).
so yea, i think you have your air pump. woulda been 100X easier if the pic was from the opposite side.
now the question, is there a belt on the air pump??
also, if its your stock cat, good luck ! my car failed 6/6 with the factory cat, then passed 4/6 with a new one. oh, my inspection has been out since 8/31/03.

Ah I see, all good then

Only reason I remember so well is because I had to dig it out to pass my emissions test. If the stock cats are still in there, good luck they're very old and probably fried or something.

I passed with a bonez high flow cat (no precats), no acv, no egr, no vac rack, just hooked my airpump straight up to the cat, and leaned out my safc a little. Passed everything with flying colors Then after I was done I took the cat and airpump back out hehe.
