air pump removal

Hey guys, i was wondering if there is way to remove or bypass the air pump, or is it a necessary part of the engine.

Your profile says '90 rx7. If it's an NA, leave the air pump alone. It is used in controlling the 6PI and VDI systems, which provide a lot of your top-end power.

That! If you remove it the air pressure that opens the actuators for 6 port induction and the variable dynamic intake will cease to work. Basically the power will drop like a rock at 4500rpms. If you need to smog in tx your car will FAIL!. 0 benefit to a s5 n/a car.

S4's rely on backpressure in the exhaust system. So a real free flowing exhaust will make those stop working if they do now.
