Question Air Pump

I have a '87 turbo2, the air pump is making a ,some what loud, rattleing noise when you let off the gas. It does it a little when idling. I am wondering if I should take it off, replace it or just take the belt. Has anyone had this rattleing noise problem? What should I do?

Tell me what you think.

If emissions is a concern, replace the air pump. If not, remove it, the ACV and the cat. A blank-off plate will be required for the ACV and the cat can be replaced with a straight piece of pipe.

I did but didn't find any good explanations. Could you direct me to a good site that describes this, or at least some pictures of it or what to do with the vacuum lines, anything will help. thanx

Do you have to take off the ACV, or can you just unplug it and the acuators?

I've never seen a complete write-up on a website. I figured it out by studying the FSM until I was cross-eyed! Go back to the search page, type "remove and ACV" (the "and" is important), set to search the 2nd Gen section only and hit go. You'll get plenty of info.
