air pump

air pump

do i have to plug off anything on the engine. and how long did it take u guys to remove it.

The air pump removal is not hard.
You will need to plug the air filter box outlet hole.

The main issue is the fan.
The air pump belt provided much of the torque to drive the fan.
Without it, you only have the alternator belt, and it's contact sector across the fan pulley is short.
I am using a dual alternator pulley with 2 belts.

well when sure shot was at my house it only took like 5 min to take the whole thing off

Its one less accessory that has to be turned, but the increase is hardly noticeable. Also, note that if you have an s5 n/a, the air pump provides the pressure to open your vdi and 6pi actuators.

so on an s4 t2 will it help me any? i was thinking about taking it off just to free up some room in my engine bay

I took mine off when my ports were stuck, and i didnt notice any difference. Also, dont plan on passing emissions without it. But the engine bay does look a bit cleaner.

When the cast aluminum bracket broke on my 91NA, it was cheaper to install an electric pump than to replace the bracket.

Yes - I'm a cheapskate.

You got an S5? If so, the air pump works the aux ports & VDI.
