You need a small filter to protect the air pump.

Will that work OK??? Just use an o-ring clamp and some kind of screen or maybe some panty hose material over the whole or do I NEED to have a specific breather filter????

or......take off the airpump and get a new exhaust system without a cat, and than an ACV block off, and you will no longer need the filter. Replacing the cat with a straight pipe will net some hp gains. Make sure it is legal though in your area first.

its the same thing, if you dont mind having some household/feminine materials under your hood, they do the same thing as a cotton/paper filter, just basically keep big chunks of crap from going in yourhose.

That's not a good idea. During decel, the ACV directs air from the airpump to the rear rotor to help prevent afterburn. You NEED to filter the air to avoid sucking sand, dirt, etc. into your engine.

Go with the breather filter beside another other obvious reasons it gives people who don't know rotarys sumthin to ask about, they think they are seeing a filter on an alternator or sumthin lol
