You need a small filter to protect the air pump.
theyre called crankcase vent filters, you can probably get em at pep boys or something.
wormclamp some screen from a screen door over that bad boy, you konw, just to keep out the small insects and what not.
Will that work OK??? Just use an o-ring clamp and some kind of screen or maybe some panty hose material over the whole or do I NEED to have a specific breather filter????
or......take off the airpump and get a new exhaust system without a cat, and than an ACV block off, and you will no longer need the filter. Replacing the cat with a straight pipe will net some hp gains. Make sure it is legal though in your area first.

its the same thing, if you dont mind having some household/feminine materials under your hood, they do the same thing as a cotton/paper filter, just basically keep big chunks of crap from going in yourhose.

I got a little filter from AutoZone for it. Universal breather filter. Gives me a nice whine above about 2krpms.
get in the zone....AutoZone
it's a 5 dollar breather, get it..

Go with the breather filter beside another other obvious reasons it gives people who don't know rotarys sumthin to ask about, they think they are seeing a filter on an alternator or sumthin lol
