again with the door handle.

so i fixed the door handle, and the door handle it self worked fine.
now i hooked back up the locking mechanism, and closed the door. i cant open the door from either handle now. idk how to get it to open i took off the door panel inside the car and pulled on both lock and both handle lines and cant get the door to open
HELP! please.

That sucks... seems that the the lock mechanism must be jammed... Happened to me once, you really dont want to know what I did to fix it...

First try this then i will post up what i did if it doesnt work.

Try actually actuating the latch mechanism itself (not the rod) your rod is probably bent or bound. You need to actuate the latch on the inner side of the door by hand...

You actuated the lock and latch at the same time and it still didn't move?

2 options then...

Lets start with #1-

Go find a replacement door latch now.. Have this ready before you start. Also make sure you have all the replacement hardware.

Now that you have the afforementioned parts, take the largest sledge hammer you can find and a crowbar or large flat object and smash the lock until it rips off the inside of the door.. Be very careful not to damage your door shell (also this must be done with the window up) I used a 5 lb sledge and a crowbar.

When you get it apart replace the latch and there you go.....

I had some success once removing the door off the hinges and then cutting the latch loop...

I would continue to try to manipulate the latch itself before I did anything else...

I've got a semi similar problem, in my car my door handle is actually coming off, it's just loose. I think I can just take off the door panel and screw it back in, but I'm not sure.

Good luck with your problem.

FYI, I started having a door issue similar to yours last week and didn't have time to fix it yet. With mine, when the door is locked the inside lock actually won't go fully up which is why the door won't unlock, but what I found with mine is that this only happens when the window is up. If I put the window about 2/3 of the way down it works properly. Might want to try that to at least see if you can get the door open. If your still having the problem in 2 weeks when i'll be home from vacation I'll update you on what I had to do to fix the problem.

The spring that returns the lock to the fully open position broke. It happened on both of my doors. Take the whole assembly out(the one that latches the door to the side wall) and on it is a place where a spring will connect to two latches. One side may still be connected and you can see where else it goes. Took me 2 days to find it, but when I did, I knew what that extra spring was for. Take out the door latch and you will see. :P

You will have to move stuff around to actually get your door open first of all though. It will be a lot of feeling with your hands due to you not be able to see, but it's the only way.
