Now we're talking.

<$500 would be good. Then I could actually afford one and hopefully have a friend at Portflow benchflow it.

I know it's not as good as testing it on a car, but flowbench should give us a general idea of its flow charateristics.

Those companies provide some nice looking pieces but all require the use of ITB's and with ITBs come extensive tuning requiring aftermarket ECU.

I was hoping for rather a quick bolt-on upgrade.

If you get to the point where you need a new inlet manifold (as opposed to just wanting one), you're beyond the scope of the stock ECU anyway.

This sort of mod comes after engine porting, big turbos and aftermartet ECU's.

yep!!! what he said.............get a Microtech or Haltech first. That's the most important piece of the puzzle.

Is that from ebay Australia?

thanks

That is correct, but of course the stock intake system has nowhere near the flow capabilities of a well designed carb setup.

I'm not quite sure what you mean. If you go on ebay.com you will find it right there on E-Bay motors.

If you go to the first page of ebay and scroll down to the bottom left side you will see the global sites. here the link to ebay australia:

http://www.ebay.com.au

and ebay New Zeland:

http://pages.ebay.com/nz/index.html

You see some cool parts on that ebay Australia site sometimes.

I spoke with Rotorwrx specifically wanting to buy their manifold. I was ready to send money after seeing the 40HP increase, but had a few questions.

That 40 HP increase was seen at very high boost levels. I don't remember but it was somewhere around 25-30 psi (maybe more, it was HIGH) and high RPM's. They said that the gains were significantly less at lower boost/RPM.

He further said that this setup was ONLY good for strictly drag step and that you actually loose power low in the RPM band and that this would not be a good choice for anything driven on the street.

I told them my setup, which is pretty aggressive for a street car and said I was willing to pay the money for any gains... He suggested against and talked me out of buying his product. For someone to discourage purchasing their product says to me that there really aren't any gains from this setup.... on anything but a race car.

My $.02.

I would still like to know if anyone has actually shown improvements with the FD/RE UIM over a S5 UIM.

carx7, I talked to Alf awhile back, and he said he gained 25rwhp with an fd uim on his fc. But he also ported his lim and his fd uim, then port matched them. But he was making 600rwhp on a full bridge, w/ a t51 kai.

The difference isn't that much. The JC/FD throttle body is only a bit bigger than the FC one. Both have a 45mm primary throttle, the JC/FD has 50mm secondaries instead of our 45mm ones.
