AFM Troubles, help!
Well, here's my issue. My car will not start with my AFM plugged in, it'll fire over, sputter, act like it want's to start, but it never manages to finally start. So, I unplug the AFM, and the car starts right up (floods a little easy, but starts) and will idle at 1K (where I have it set) but it doesn't idle smooth, now if I get out of the car, and plug the AFM in, it dies, however if I hold the AFM open ever so slightly and plug it in, the car with smooth right out and idle like it was brand new. My question is, is my AFM shot (I have no vacuum leaks, already checked), or would my not having an air-filter on it at the moment I tried to start it be causing not enough restriction to suck the AFM open? This is a series5 mind you
That is really strange...Sounds like you may have an AFM problem... But it shouldnt run with it unplugged...
Hmmm.... Nobody around you has a spare AFM that you could swap in, to see if thats the problem?

Not one person, and the fuel pump will run with the AFM unplugged on a s5 car, it just sets it to a default reading and gives the engine check light

At least, that's what it does on my car anyway
I'm having a bitch of a time getting the damn thing to start and idle with the AFM plugged in though, I'm going to play with timing now and hopefully it'll fix it.

Alright, now that I've narrowed it down to NOT being the AFM after all (though it still might be some of the cause) I'm more concerned with the fact that it idles at 2,500 and nowhere below, still showing voltage at two of the 3 plugs on the TPS checker (where you plugin the lights), however it idles and revs just fine at 2,500, I can floor it over and over without a hitch, now my problem is getting it to idle lower!
