AFM modding

I have a NA S4 and i want to tune the AFM for better performance. I heard a HKS VPC was good for solving this. Is there any other similiar products that would work but aernt so expensive. Will i notice the performance on a NA motor? Im trying to squeeze 200whp out of my car while staying NA and streetable.

Good luck finding an HKS VPC for any reasonable price.

Check out the Apex'I S-AFC. It's the most common piggyback fuel controller used here and it works well.

If you want to eliminate the AFM, then the only choice is going standalone or using the MAP-ECU.

i plan on using the HKS super AFR. At first i was gonna go for the Apex s-afc but i want to stay low key and go with a HKS s-AFR unit stashed in my glovebox. Also a HKS twin power ignition system if i can find what im lookin for. I plan on using a haltuner A:F ratio to closely monitor my situation. Hopefully it will fit where the clock is. I plan on taking out the clock and putting the LED display there.

Ha, nothing to do with the topic but what the hell.
1st thread I saw here while I just finished some cleaning:
3-29-06: Bored. Cleaned my AFM/TID/TURBO

Result: 1 extra Horse!

While I was there:.... what the hell, might as well.....

Ow yeh, S-AFC like Cake says:

i have my reasons, what does it matter? I can easily hide a HKS S-AFR in my glove rather than the larger SAFC. I like HKS and im gonna stick with there products. Do you see a problem with that?

to answer your original question, yes you may notice some small gains, no you won't hit 200RWHP with it and those mods.

sounds like you already made up your mind on which unit to go with so ignore on the other Q. you want HKS but a low cost one, there is no such thing.

i still don't get it though, the SAFC is small enough to fit in the ash tray(where most people put it), it sounds like you are thinking of something else.

i kno i wont get that much HP out of it, but im looking for a good setup. I want to keep my stuff out of sight. Out of sight = less likely to get stolen. For some reason theives like things that stand out to them, like the big display on the SAFC. Thats what i meant by low key. I kinda have my mind set but i wouldnt mind some other options before i completely make up my mind. Just to see what else people have tried and the succes they had with it.

I picked my Apex AFC Neo on Saturday.....it looks like the ****. I have played with the old SAFCII before and those are great but the new Neo has finer, more precise tuning windows and increments. It looks cool as all hell and you can switch between either a fine tune mode for dyno or experienced tuners or a less broad tuning for the street guys that more or less know where they need more and less fuel.
I will be installing mine on my T2 hopefully this week.

APEXI SAFC don't make sense if your buying one new. You can get a RTEK2.0 FOR 300.00 (EDIT: make that 400) and it does fuel/timing/data logging/ code reading and more.

$300 with exchange... Otherwise it's $400... Either way though I wouldn't buy a new SAFC, when the Rtek 2.0 is around the same price...

Oh and if you plan on seeing 200whp out of your N/A, you better have some nice ports...

$300 is fine for those who have to pay......
I got mine as a kick down from a shop that my comapny does close business with........
I'm basically a guniea pig(however the hell you spell that), I am supposed to give them some feedback on it since they don't really deal with to much performance stuff, but they are trying to make a shift to more performance and less bling parts.
I was pretty much at the right place at the right time. So from that perspective it's just fine for me.

Properly set up "stage 1" streetport with s5 n/a rotors, safc, exhaust/cone filter, and someone that knows how to tune is allllllllll you need. Tuning is key, though.
