Aerodynamic idea..

How much does the rear hatch weigh? 50 to 100 lbs?

anyway.. with the hatch removed, I assume the amount of wind coming into the car and catching the rear end would be alot of drag.. right?

what if you remove the hatch and place a flat board across the hatch where it is flat. I assume this would stop the drag and decrease alot of weight..

anyone have any ideas about this.. the hatch would be removed only while drag racing.

That's redneck; even if it shaves off 1/10 of a second, it's just not worth it.

Mariah Motorsports makes what could be called a flat back window kit for the 1st Gen. IMHO it looks silly but you could probably have the same thing made for the FC with enough money.

if you wanted to, you could just get a plexi rear glass and drop the shocks off. that should lighten it quite a bit. or go extreme and get a hatch out of the jyard and cut any unessecary metal off then plexi it. throw it on when heading to the strip.

Are you trying to recreate that Sport Compact Car Magazine article that chopped the car to pieces.
I guess if you're that concerned just use cardboard and duct tape. And if you've got the guts to show off your car like that.
