advice on swapping s4 engine to s5!
hey! well here's the thing. i basically have everything from an s4 TII; the engine, tranny, ecu, driveshaft, clutch, everything but a shell. and everything is in perfect condition. and i'm thinking about getting a s5 shell and swapping it all over. i found the write up by rotary resurrection on swapping an s4 engine to s5 (http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/ro...ries4swap.html) which was helpful but it still wasnt too clear to me.
well here's my question. since i have the ECU and everything, wiring shouldnt be a problem if i swap that too right? would it be easier just to swap everything over or would it be a better idea to keep some s5 parts in like in the write up. and also any imput, ideas, or advice for this project would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

oh yea...the s5 shell is N/A if that makes any difference.

so if i swap everything over, it would be a pretty smooth swap, no major problem?
or should i keep some of the s5 superior parts?
anything else i should look or watch out for when doing the swap?

Swap every wire and every part connected to every wire from the s4 into the s5, and it will be a perfect swap.
OR you can hack this, cut that, and splice this. These cars have enough problems, mostly electrical, to add uncertainty and rigging on top of that. These are the sort of projects that wind up being sold for parts despite the owner's sincere detmination at the beginning of it. Because once it is all said and done, they are looking at a car that doesnt run right and NOBODY can help them figure it out at that point since it is such a hybrid/reengineered setup.

If I was doing this, I would grab the emissions (EFI) harness from the S4 as well as the connector from the body harness (the one that plugs into the ECU). I would then strip the S4 harness to it's minimum, bulding the CAS and ignition harness off of the salvaged body connector. The idea is that when you're all done, there are only two connections that have to be made to the car: 12V and ground.
I've done this with several TII swaps into 1st gens and it works very well. All you need to do is follow the wiring diagram in the Haynes manual.
