Advice - FC3 S4 13B water leak

I took out my motor looking for a water leak in between the motor and the bell housing. There is a definite leak, pretty bad one, in that area. I checked the freeze out plugs and found that they are perfect. I sealed up the motor and poured in water, found no leak, checked all hoses, also no leak, but I replaced several anyway.

I put the motor back in, put in water and the leak is back in between the motor and the bell housing again. Motor was never started, cold in all instances.

Not super familiar with the cooling of the rotary. My question is, can water leak out of the rear main seal?

Thanks.

No I didn't. Is this a common phenomona? Where are the likely suspects? Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks.

im not saying there is a crack in there. but im just saying there might be a crack there because it might have over heated. or it chould be warped to where it dose not make a good seal. or I chould be wrong all together.

Water cannot leak from the rear main seal, but it can leak at the tension bolts. For this to happen it would require the engine plates to be extemely warped and the seals on the bolts to be shot.
