thanks Icemark for taking the trouble to make a comment! What the hell is a follow me system, I only have three choices according to my Steelmate 888 alarm installation manual, when I connected to the pos./ neg. a fuse blows. By the way, our news services say you are getting pretty wet over there in calif. Thanks, Barb and Bob in OZ.

Coicnidentaly, I just added powerlocks and keyless entry. Works great and installation was easier than i expected it to be. They are follow me type. The kit included to actuators, the main box, two keyless button keypad thigies, and a wiring harness. Funny though, didn't come with any instructions. It was prettty straight forward.
I took some picts of the actuator location if anyone is interseted.

I think a 'follow me' means if you lock/unlock the drivers door, the other one will automatically do the same...
www.kickyride.com is where I got keyless entry stuff for my FB, they have great customer service. A tech there even hand drew the wiring for me, he even knew the wire colors in my car.

So adding keyless entry would require adding a door lock motor to the drivers door. The motor would then drive the unlock/lock of the drivers door as well as the switch in the drivers door that controls the passengers factory door lock motor.

I figured I'd just keep going on this subject instead of making a whole new thread for something similar. I'm doing an alarm and am going to install power locks on my car to go with this. I think I have a pretty good idea of the relay setup that it will require but I was curious if there is any actuator (aside from the stock one) that is specific to mazdas or if I even need one. If need be I'll do a custom mounting job for the actuator but I just assume use one that requires minimum modification/mounting to install. Thanks in advance -Zach-

Get the slim type, and DON'T buy off ebay. They are ~<$10.00 for the slim type at partsexpress.com. Parts-express is an awesome company and they don't rape on shipping and have a great customer service.

They've got a $4.50 two wire actuator too, but you won't be able to use a followme system with those.
EDIT: I technicaly didn't use the slim actuators, but I had to "work" the actuators into the door panel more than what the pictures really show. When I first put the door panels back on, the panels failed to line up perfectly because they were bottoming out on the actuator. Ok.. actually I just pushed the actuator into that hole a bit more. Wasn't too hard, but it did have to be done. A slim actuator probably wouldn't need this "working"
