Accidentally fixed everything...should I be worried?

Okay, I was having some issues with my 91 NA. Nothing major, but the leading thing I was trying to fix was that my tach stopped working randomly when I was in the middle of driving. I discovered that it was because my trailing coils just randomly stopped working in the middle of a drive... but anyway did some searching and someone suggested resetting the computer by pulling some fuses and leaving them out a while. A'ight. When I pull them, I discover my EGI fuse is in upside down. Ooookay.

So I do it once, leave it out for about 2 minutes, stick them back it (rightside up) and after drivng the car to McDonalds and back it did it again. Maybe I didn't leave it out long enough. I yank the two fuses out again, stick them in my pocket and go inside. A couple of hours later, I go back to the car, pop the hood and put the fuses back in.

Before cranking the car, I double check the trailing plug wires, unplugging them both at the coils and the plugs and reconnecting them. They were on good, the plugs are new and the wires still look new. I also check all the fuses under the hood, and some of the key fuses on the inside of the car. Everything is okay.

Now i crank the car. It cranks right up, just like it's supposed to. Wow. When it goes to normal idle, I cut it off and turn it back on. Again, started like a champ. Whee!

Back out of the driveway, stick it in first and hit the gas. I'm not trying to go fast, the car still isn't warmed up, I'm just trying to go. The car has quite a bit more pep... not a huge amount, but let's just say that if I did some mod and it improved by that much, I'd be a happy man. Not that it was runnign bad before...

When it warms up, I do a little fast accellerating. I'm not flooring it, but I'm gunning it a little more than usual. It feels REALLY good. Also, it idles perfectly at 750 rpms. Before it was bouncing a little between about 650 and 750 at idle, I considered that acceptable and left it, but it was dead on 750 now with almost no movement.

Oh yeah, and the tach didn't go out on me either, although that is a completely random occurrence, so I won't know if it actually corrected the problem until I drive it a few days more.

Thing is... I don't get why everything suddenly runs better? I mean, it ran well before (better than the other 3 or so 7s I've driven) but now it's like brand new. Should I be worried?

a similar thing happened to me. not engine related, but...

I installed my amp and subs in my GXL one friday night... I was in a hurry so some of the wires were left visible inside the car, ugly but functional. As soon as I drove the car next, I noticed that the dashboard clock wan't on, power mirrors also stopped working, and no A/C either. I was a little pissed.

So after about 2 or 3 days, I got back out to the car and neatened up the install. now everything looks neater and by some great luck, the three things that failed on friday now work again = )

Wish I could go to straight pipes, but alas there are emmissions...

Right now the plan is a bones hi-flow cat going to a racing beat cat-back system. Expensive as hell, and won't be quite as good, but if I get pulled for not having my car inspected again, I'm dead meat.

Pulling fuses won't fix the car. Pull the EGI crank it, then put it back in. The POS should start right up. Mine does.

Is that how you reset the computer?
I thought you had to hold down the brake with a fuse out or something!?
